The books
Three books,
one method
In print since 2005. Four editions. Swedish and English.
A theory book, its Swedish edition, and the exercise programme that grew out of both. Together they are a standard text for contemporary singing at Swedish colleges and conservatories, and they have sold more than 20,000 copies.

Ultimate Vocal Voyage
The theory book, in English. Eleven chapters that run from warm-up and breathing through the vocal folds and the resonating tract to articulation, the gig, and vocal health. Power, source and filter is the thread: the breath gives the power, the vocal folds are the source, the vocal tract is the filter.
Comes with recorded exercises. It is also the book handed to every candidate on the certification.

Stora Sångguiden — Vägen till din ultimata sångröst
The Swedish edition of the same work, now in its fourth revised edition. This is the one that sits on the shelf at Swedish colleges of music, in choirs, and in the studios of most Swedish singing teachers.
Written in Swedish, for Swedish singers.
- Vocal Workout
of the DayVocal Workout of the Day
The exercise book. A 100-day programme in ten periods, each built from intensive, mixed, medium and technique workouts, rest days and voice-massage days — balanced the way a training plan should be, so the voice gets both load and recovery.
Keys and ranges follow the average of the Billboard top 40, so the work matches what contemporary singing actually asks of a voice. It assumes you know the exercises from Ultimate Vocal Voyage.
This is where the app came from. If you would rather be guided day by day than turn pages, Vocal Workout of the Day is the same programme in your pocket.
The method
What makes an exercise a Zangger exercise
Every exercise has to clear three bars. It has to be phonetically fitted to the physiology of what it trains. It has to sound like a phrase from a real song, because that is what shortens the road from the practice room to the stage — real melodies, real results. And the music itself has to develop you: once the technical point is secure, the harmony and rhythm underneath start varying, so the brain stays awake.
Underneath it all sits your voice ID: the shape of your own vocal instrument, the music that formed you, and the training you have put in. It changes over time, and you are the one who leads that change. Most singers you can recognise from a single note have a well-developed voice ID. The books are not about sounding like someone else.
The science this rests on is on the research page.
“I encourage all voice teachers to add this book to their collection.”
Dane ChalfinVoice rehabilitation specialist, British Voice Association

Kim ChandlerSession singer — The Bee Gees, Brian May, Björk
“For an active singer with a good basic technique, the book may provide new ideas and inspiration.”

The programme, one day at a time
The exercise book became an app. Same method, same exercises, but it tells you what today’s workout is and keeps track of the rest days for you.
